    Over 100 billion Rwandan francs spent on survivors’ welfare

    Rwanda’s Prime Minister Bernard Makuza announces that, since the establishment of the Fund for Genocide Survivors, the government has spent Rwf 110.8 billion towards the welfare of survivors. The fund was established in 1998 to improve the welfare of genocide survivors by providing them with basic needs including shelter, healthcare, education and guidance towards self-sustainability.

    Genocide fund officials sacked for mismanagement

    The Rwandan government has dismissed senior officials working for the Fund for Support of Genocide Survivors (FARG) for alleged misappropriation of millions of government funds targeted for survivors of the infamous 1994 genocide, local media has reported.

    More than one third of Rwandan genocide survivors are impoverished

    Out of the 309,368 survivors of the 1994 genocide still alive, more than one third are impoverished and need assistance, according to a report by the Rwandan government.
