According to Ibuka, the umbrella organization of genocide survivors in Rwanda, twenty-six genocide survivors were murdered in 2009 in Rwanda.
Ibuka president Theodore Simburudari claims that the Rwandan judiciary has not provided adequate protection for the survivors in the past 15 years. “We find judicial authorities have not done enough to arrest and try those who kill the genocide survivors,” a communiquĂ© from Ibuka reads.
Nine women and several children are said to be among the victims, who were allegedly drowned, cut into pieces, beheaded or blown up by hand grenades.
