THE MEN WHO KILLED ME, April 7 – May 31

Start date: 07/04/2009
End date: 31/05/2009

April 7, 2009, the opening night of “The Men Who Killed Me”, is the 15th anniversary of the day the killing started in Rwanda in 1994.  “The Men Who Killed Me” features seventeen of these survivors, photographed by Samer Muscati for a book of their narratives. This book will also be launched on the opening night of the exhibition. While many still struggle to cope with enduring trauma, survivors were empowered by communicating their experiences – a testament to the transformative potential of photography. The photographs in the exhibition at Craig Scott Gallery will include some that are being published by Vancouver’s Douglas & McIntyre in THE MEN WHO KILLED ME but most have been independently selected by the gallery. All proceeds from photograph sales go to a Netherlands-based charity working with rape survivors and their families in Rwanda. “The Men Who Killed Me” is an exhibition within the 2009 annual CONTACT Photography Festival.
