    Regional body to set up courts on sexual crimes in Great Lakes region

    The International Conference on the Great Lakes Region will soon set up special tribunals in member states to expeditiously try cases of sexual and gender based violence. It is among several other decisions to be implemented as a follow-up to the Kampala Declaration on the fight against sexual and gender based violence that was agreed on during a summit in Kampala last year.

    “The Martyred Virgins”: a Gregorian memorial to female victims of violence

    The Gregorian Schola Karolus Magnus (the Netherlands) just released their latest CD “The Martyred Virgins: A Gregorian memorial to female victims of violence”. On it, one can hear parts of the testimonials of three Rwandan women who were profiled in “The Men Who Killed Me”. The music is a tribute to all women all over the world who face violence.

    According to the Rwandan Ministry of Justice, there are no cases left before gacaca courts, but the gacaca’s official closure is to be delayed again because of a backlog in documents translation.

    “The Men Who Killed Me” staged in Halifax in March

    From March 12 -14, 2012, “The Men Who Killed Me” will be staged at Bus Stop Theatre in Halifax, Canada. The play is produced by Alayna Kolodziechuk and others. A significant part of the play is based on the interviews featured in our book.
